SimpleTexting sells monthly plans sized by the number of credits you need. The plan price does not include the phone number.

The page also lists the following:

• Yearly billing lowers each plan price by 20 percent.
• Phone number. A local number is $10 a month with a $4 activation fee, which the page's cost estimate lists as a one-time carrier registration. A toll-free number has no additional fee, and its approval can take up to a week.
• Carrier fees are charged in addition to the plan. The page puts them at about $0.0025 per message in the United States on average and says SimpleTexting does not mark them up.
• Credits. A text of up to 160 characters uses 1 credit, an extended text of up to 306 characters uses 2, and a picture message of up to 1,600 characters uses 3. Incoming texts are free, and an incoming picture message uses 1 credit.
• Unused credits. On monthly plans, remaining plan credits roll over until the end of the following month. Rollover credits are lost if you downgrade your plan.
• Contracts. The page says there are no contracts and that you can upgrade or downgrade as your needs change. It also offers a refund if you ask within 30 days.
• Users. All paid plans include three user seats. Additional teammates are $20 a month each, and additional numbers are $10 a month each.
• Features listed on the page include two-way messaging, unlimited text-to-join keywords, picture messaging and API access.
• Discount. Nonprofits, churches and other tax-exempt organizations receive 15 percent off monthly plans.

CampaignCNX+ pricing

CampaignCNX+ can be used without a plan. Pay as you go has no plan fee: you buy credits at $0.06 each and use them when you send. Monthly plans include a set number of texts and lower the rate for each text beyond them.

• Phone number. $5 a month on every plan, local or toll-free.
• Registration. A local number needs 10DLC registration, which we file for a one-time $75 per business. A toll-free number has no registration fee and is verified in about three business days.
• Texts. One credit pays for one segment of 160 characters, or 70 with an emoji. A picture message uses 3 credits. No separate carrier fee is added.
• Unused texts. On a monthly plan, included texts you do not use roll over and stay on the account while the subscription is active. Pay-as-you-go credits do not expire while the account is active.
• Contracts. Plans are billed monthly, with no long-term contract.
• Add-ons. The two-way inbox is $12.49 a month and is included on Enterprise. Keywords and automatic replies are $20 a month. Additional users are $25 a month each.
• To start. A new account includes 100 free SMS.

SimpleTexting alternatives: which fits which sender

Both services send business texts from a registered number. The better fit depends on how much you send and which features you need included in the price.

Where SimpleTexting's published prices are lower

At a steady volume of several thousand texts a month, SimpleTexting's plan prices are lower than CampaignCNX+'s. For example, its 3,000-credit plan is $109 a month, and its plans include three users, two-way messaging and keywords. On CampaignCNX+, the two-way inbox and keywords are add-ons, and the inbox is included only on Enterprise. A business that sends about the same number of texts every month, and wants several people answering replies, should price SimpleTexting carefully.

Where CampaignCNX+ may fit better

• Small or uneven volume. If you send fewer than about 400 texts a month, or send only in some months, pay as you go usually costs less, because there is no plan fee in the months you do not send.
• Unused texts that stay. Plan texts you do not use stay on the account while the subscription is active, rather than until the end of the following month.
• A $5 number. The number is $5 a month on every plan.
• Campaigns as well as businesses. CampaignCNX+ also files registrations for political campaigns and committees, with the Campaign Verify token the carriers require of them.
